CD PLAYERS

What is seamless looping?

Many mid-range and top-end CD players now feature seamless looping which can create a perfect loop of say 4 beats, a break or any other section of a CD that you want. What happens is the CD player jumps back when it hits the end point you set (sometimes call out-point), with no break in the music (seamless).

It's really handy for extending (say) the start or end of a tune so you can mix in/out easily.

What is Anti-shock?
An anti-shock CD uses memory to read-ahead and store a part of the track you are playing. This means if the player gets knocked, and the laser can't read the disc, it plays from memory until the laser has 'caught up'. This all happens in the background with you ever knowing!
Anti-shock CD player's also have a nice hidden benefit. Because of the way anti-shock CD players work, they tend to have more success with CD's that are dirty or scratched. This is because the laser generally has time to go back and try to read the disc again.

Can I scratch on this CD player?
Just because a player has a jog wheel, it doesn't mean that you can scratch with it. CD players that can be scratched on, or are "scratch compatible" will say so in the discription.

Does it play CD-R and CD-RW's?
All players currently on the market play CD-R discs, but please note that cheap computer burnt CD-R's don't tend to be very reliable compared to professional audio discs burnt in Audio recorders.

Do I need a mixer with this CD player?
With the exception of Combo Players, all other twin and desktop CD players require a separate mixer.
